After seeing only 1 trailer and 1 TV spot, the generous people from Marvel has blessed the world with a brand new, official trailer for Captain America: Civil War! It’s been a long time coming but I’ve been dying to see some new footage for the next amazing, MCU blockbuster! If you havn’t seen the new trailer, just stop what you’re doing and watch it. Then, come back and read my review on it. Ok? Let’s get down to it.
Ok, so I’ve already seen this trailer 643784o354 times and my mind is still boggling from what I just saw. First, this movie will clearly be an intense, emotional journey for the characters, especially for Tony and Cap. You can tell by watching this trailer and the previous 2 trailers. This movie will be what was once a happy family, turned against each other. I’ll touch on this later. So, some of the scenes that really stuck out in my mind was Black Panther. I am so excited to see him on the big screen and see him in action. Watching this trailer, it looks like he is going to be a total bad ass and be hard to take down. There was one brief scene where it showed him, uncostumed, and rubble was falling on him. If I had a guess, this probably took place in South Africa where the “international incident” started and he was just a bystander. Looking at the mess the avengers created, he thinks he needs to step up and tame the avengers. That is just my thinking right now. Also, there was a brief scene of a floating containment facility rising up from the ocean. I am wondering if this belongs to the government or Tony Stark created it. You can see briefly where Tony was standing in the middle of the place; making me think that it could possibly be his. Seems as though if no super hero complies with being with the government, they’ll be sent to the “jail cell.” Scarlet Witch taming Vision was really intense. Considering if they’ll ever be romantic partners is yet to be determined since they’re fighting with each other haha. The scene where Ant-Man was riding Hawkeye’s shooting arrow made me so happy!! Took it right out of the comic book!! Marvel knows how to do it right!!! But this whole trailer just got me even more excited for this movie. James Gunn, director of Guardians of the Galaxy, stated that this is the best Marvel movie to date. Also, I saw a statement that the ending will be an “emotional, horror movie”…it’s going to be crazy on May 6th.
AND…we have to go over the ending of the trailer. I know fans and comic book community have been begging to see a glimpse of Spiderman…and they all received an early Christmas present haha. I’m sorry but I was one of those people to not see any promotional images of Spider-Man. Spider-man is a classic. Since this will be the 3rd time Spidey will be introduced, it would’ve been better to just see him for the first time on the big screen. Kind of how Star Wars: The Force Awakens didn’t show Luke Skywalker in any trailers until the movie. But, I am not disappointed that they showed him in the trailer! It pretty much gives everyone a teaser on what to expect. Say what you want but I loved how Spidey Looks. Just looking through Twitter and Facebook, the community has mixed reactions on his suit. I love it just because its going back to the comics’ roots. The symbol, the look and the eyes all resemble how the comic book Spider-Man looked like. If I had one little critique on his suit, it was probably how his eyes squinted. Yes, his eyes squinted in the comics and cartoon but it just seemed too “Cartoon-like” Like, how would a 15 year old Kid been able to make his eyes on the mask to squint. If I had to guess, maybe Tony gave him the suit. Since he has the brains to make the eyes on the mask to squint. Otherwise, the CGI is continuously modifying the effects so it could change when it comes on the big screen. Like I said, all my answers will be answered in a couple of months!
One thing that I am happy that Marvel has done is not show how Crossbones and Baron Zemo will play out in this movie. Yes we have seen a couple of fight scenes with Crossbones but we have no idea how he fits in. The guess right now is that he starts the international incident that will spark the Civil War. As we all know, both Cap and Tony are not “villains”. There are two sides that have an argument and you can support either side. Basically, there is no wrong side. That’s what the feel has been in the 3 trailers…2 sides going at it with Bucky caught in the middle. This what makes Marvel amazing. There showing you what the tone is going to be like but they don’t show all their cards (Crossbones and Baron Zemo being the main villains) Sorry DC, but you failed when you showed Doomsday in BvS trailer. DC failed because its not really Batman vs Superman when they show Doomsday crashing down and Wonderwoman, Batman and Superman are ready to fight him. See what I’m saying? This movie deserves the title Captain America: Civil War because it is showing you an actual civil war going down between our heroes, but not one view of the main antagonist. I literally can’t wait for Civil War to come out and see how Phase 3 begins. This is going to be amazing.
