This is a question I hear so many times. Mostly in interviews. After graduating college, I had numerous interviews and probably the #1 question that came up was “Where do you see yourself in 5-10 years?” It is a good question for companies to ask because they want people that have ambition, drive and vision. My answer revolves around the professional spectrum saying “I want my own business” and “obtaining my CPA license.” These are good professional goals that I hope to achieve one day, but this question for the blog challenge is set as a whole.
By 2026, I’ll be 35. I can’t imagine what my life would be like then. I’d like to be college debt free by then. That would be so amazing. Right now, I live with my parents, which I have no shame for. Sometimes they do get on my nerves but I enjoy the time I have with my mom and dad. They let me live rent free so, I do help around the house and buy groceries on occasion. The biggest reason why I still live with them is so I can quickly pay off the loans. I will, eventually, move out within the next couple of years but by then, that debt would be a lot smaller. The rate that it’s going now, I can see myself debt free in 2026.
Another thing I’d like to be is a married man. Yes, this is a common goal set by a majority of the population but that’s what I want. I’d like to be married, have kids, maybe a dog and live in a great home. I see my family and friends living that dream right now and they’re so happy and that’s where I’d like to be.
Overall, I just want to be happy. It’s such an underrated statement but isn’t it what we all want? Yes, I’m sure there will be failures, obstacles and difficulties to get there but there’s no better state to be in than happiness. Right now, I feel like I’m taking baby steps to achieve that goal. I’m content with the life that I live right now. I’m definitely blessed. But, I just hope by then I’m independent, financially stable, found someone I love, and supported by family and friends that will stick by me.
