The Cincinnati Bearcats fell to the UConn Huskies this past weekend going 0-3 in the American Conference, first 0-3 conference start since 1999. I could recap the aspects of the game and what went wrong, but it’s the same story as USF and Houston. The run game wasn’t there, play making was horrendous and above all, there was no passion from the coaches, which is obviously lacking ever since the beginning of the season. Come to find out, at the USF game, bearcat quarterback Tony Pike was a sideline reporter and said the players “looked like zombies.” It’s pretty much obvious that the players despise playing under Tommy and see a trend of what will happen this year.
Like I said, I don’t know what else to say besides despite the fact we have tremendous talent on this team and awful leadership. Tuberville needs to be let go at the end of this year. I’m so sick and tired of his excuses during his post-game interviews and I’m not sure how the university board members and Athletic Director Mike Bohn can handle this. Let me share some of the stupid excuses/comments Tuberville has shared.
“We’re in the sales business. We need to create a positive atmosphere for these recruits to see.” This is the most ridiculous thing a head coach would say. He’s basically saying that the fans is the reason why the team is losing and our fault Tommy can’t bring in top recruits. It’s not our job to create the atmosphere at Nippert. If the coaches do their part, the fans will do theirs in bringing the noise. If the score board doesn’t go UC’s way, how could the fans create a positive atmosphere? Tommy claims he’s had top recruits visit UC and asked what’s wrong with the fan base. I don’t believe any piece of that bull crap. All top 50 high school football recruits in Ohio have gone elsewhere besides UC. Recruits base their college choice on playing time they will get and WINNING HISTORY. They don’t care the past BCS championships and other accolades. They want to win and win only. Let me share something from Cincinnati vs. Everyone’s twitter account because he hits it dead on.
“These fans, the students, alumni, everyone, we want something to cheer for. If you give this base something to actually cheer for you’ll have a packed Nippert Stadium every Saturday, or Thursday and sometimes a Friday. Cincinnati will support a coaching staff that shows the same passion and produces results, neither of which have been seen on the sidelines the last 3.5 years.
Tuberville is incompetent, he’s lost the fan base and there is pretty much no way to win them back. He’s failed, the era should end at the conclusion of the season. Tuberville can’t be a heel, it’s not in his nature, but it looks like he’s going to try. He didn’t openly declare war on the fans but he did say it doesn’t bother him which sounds like a challenge.”
“We’re 3-2. A lot of people would like to be 3-2 right now.” Unbelievable. Yeah, let’s stoop to the level of losing teams so we can hope to be 3-2. Pathetic.
“They did a good job stopping the run, making us one dimensional.” Yes, it’s hard when the run play is always the fu**** up the middle. Tuberville always listens to his offensive coordinators plays and Zac Taylor is doing an awful job, considering his history in the NFL.
“We don’t want to be the Cincinnati team 20 years ago.” Sorry Tubbs, but you’ve brought us there already. 0-3 in conference play for the first time since 1999.
I could go on and on about Tuberville and his lame excuses but the Cincinnati fan base has heard and seen what he’s done. He’s so bitter with Gunner Kiel that he won’t play him and he knows damn well that Kiel is the better option to play and win games. The details of his contract extension were released the other day and if UC were to buy him out before December 7th, 2016, the pay would be 2.4 million. After December 7th, it would go down to 1.5 million. I wouldn’t want to give the old man an extra $900,000 so when December 8th rolls around, I hope the President and Mike Bohn give him the kiss goodbye. We also have 6 games left on our schedule and I could see us winning 2 games the rate we’re going against UCF and Tulsa…but I really doubt it. If we continue to have Tuberville at UC, you can count me out of season tickets. I’ve been a season ticket holder for the past 2 years but I will not pay money to go and see the team lose. I’m tired of it and change needs to happen
The fan base has started a #BlackoutHomecoming movement for this weekend’s game against East Carolina. This weekend is Homecoming and supposedly the Ring of Red game and fans are encouraged to wear red at Nippert Stadium. However, the fans have been tweeting and face book posting to encourage fans to wear black instead as protest against the coaches and demanding change. I fully support this movement. Usually, ring of red games signify an importance for the bearcats and important games. ECU isn’t really important and it’s also homecoming. It’ll be a good chance for the alumni to come back and see the student section in full black. I’ll be part of the alumni band and I need to wear my red alumni band jacket. However, if it gets cold enough, I’ll be wearing my black sweatshirt over it. I really hope to see the entire student section in black. It’ll be a happy sight to see and I hope it sends a message to Mike Bohn and the President that the fans and students are not happy with the leadership we have. Oh, I’m not seeing the bearcats will win either against ECU
