I’ve realized it’s been a while since I posted a blog, more specifically Cincinnati Bearcats football. There really isn’t much to say because it’s the same f***ing story. What’s so bad is that this team has gone over 120 minutes not scoring an offensive touchdown. Simply put, embarrassing.
This Saturday night, senior night, the bearcats play host to the Memphis Tigers. While I’d rather spend my night elsewhere, I have to go because I already spent so much money on season tickets already and can’t really let it go to waste. I’m not expecting too much because the bearcats have been blown away the past 2 games already and it’s becoming predictable.
Tommy Tuberville and Athletic Director Mike Bohn are the 2 most despicable people right now in Cincinnati. At the end of the embarrassing loss to BYU, a loyal Cincinnati fan shouted to Tuberville that he is “stealing from this University.” I couldn’t agree more. And Tuberville had the nerve to talk back and tell the fan “to go to hell and get a job.” Now if I were to tell a customer at work to go to hell and get a job, my boss would fire me in a heartbeat. Not Mike Bohn. He actually supports Tuberville stating that it was a “no-win situation.” Tuberville would’ve actually won something in his life if he just put his head down and kept walking.
December 7th can’t come any sooner. According to the old man’s new contract, his buyout would be $900,000 less if fired after December 7th. This guy has so much money right now, he’s ready for retirement and it’s showing on the field. He lacks passion, energy and the motivation to fight to the finish. It’s sickening to watch. As a proud alumn, he’s taking the great name of Cincinnati and the proud program I once knew and loved to the dump. Tuberville had the audacity to say that the football program is better ever since he got here. I’m sorry Tuberville but Brian Kelly’s 84% winning rate and Butch Jones 64% rate doesn’t compare to your 59% winning rate here at Cincinnati.
I have a strong feeling that Tuberville will still remain here at Cincinnati for the 2017 season because it’s pretty obvious that Mike Bohn is his BFF and UC’s president is all new at this that she probably wouldn’t let go of either Tuberville or Bohn. If he’s still coach, I will absolutely not buy season tickets for next year. I bought season tickets to see good games with the expectation of winning. The past couple of home games, I went in thinking, how bad will the team look like today or how much will we lose by. It’s the same thing over and over again. We’re not winning and I will not spend so much money for games knowing that we’ll probably lose time and time again. I’ve seen on both Facebook and Twitter that numerous season ticket holders will not renew their tickets if Tommy is still coach. The Athletic office will see their season ticket ratings drop like flying bees and hopefully it’ll send that message for a change to happen immediately. Tuberville and Bohn seems to not care about the tradition and legacy we so deeply care at the University of Cincinnati. He’s had 4 years to prove his worth at UC and it’s not paying off. Up and coming coaches Jones and Kelly have done it in 3 while the legendary, river boat gambler himself can’t win a bowl game or beat a ranked team.
I’m so tired of it and so tired of venting about it. I want to see my alma mater go to higher places we’ve never been before but it’s not going to happen with the staff we have. I have no animosity against the players. They’re doing what they’re told by their teachers and obviously the teachers aren’t that good. I have no doubt we have great talent on the team but just not the right teachers. More specifically, offensive coordinator Zac Taylor really sucks at his job. Even though this is his first year at UC, his play making abilities is lacking and it’s becoming monotonous. Taylor said in a statement that they’re exhausting every play in the play book to get on the scoreboard. That is the most ridiculous thing he had to say. If he had more plays, he would have different run plays too. Just awful.
I’m tired of ranting. I’m predicting a 4-8 season, no bowl eligibility. Tuberville and staff are awful. It’s time to get rid of them and bring in someone new. Hire one of the offensive or defensive coordinators at winning programs. They’ll get things done. At least basketball season is off to a strong start. I’m praying to the sports gods that our basketball team will have a better year than the football team’s. I want something good to happen in Cincinnati.
