Ok, you’re probably all wondering “Wait, he’s a Marvel guy! Why is doing a DC review?” Yes, I love Marvel and everything in it. The movies, the shows, the one-shots, the cross-overs and mainly, the characters. I will not go into a long rant on why Marvel is better than DC…I’ll save that for DArrow. He could probably take Hawkeye and beat him. Just saying.
Back to last night’s episode. The winter finale was more than epic…it was mind freakin blowing. Well, my personal opinion, the ending was mind freakin blowing. I’ll get to that later. When season 3 since started, it has just been one thing after another. Damiehn Dhark has powers, Oliver running for Mayor, Olver’s flash backs on the island, and dealing with Canary and Atom coming back. The episode started out with the community coming together and cleaning the area. I thought for once that the city would be quiet during that time…but I was wrong. Just leave it to Dahrk to ruin every single thing in the city.
Thankfully, Oliver came to his senses and had enough of it. It was the right move to call out Dhark and letting the city know that this is the danger that they’re up against. However, it was a major consequence that Oliver put a target on his back. Dhark’s minions captured Felicity, Diggle and Speedy and Dhark made sure Oliver see them suffer and dead. Thankfully we head the unlikely duo of Canary and Dark Arrow (dressed as the Green Arrow) come in and save the day. It surely was a hectic time for our heroes and everything has a happy ending. Oliver was shown at the end lighting the Christmas tree at a community event, getting down one knee and proposing to his love, Felicity Smoak! 🙂 YAY!!!
Let me briefly talk about the flash backs in this episode. I wasn’t really sure what was happening with what Oliver and the girl was looking for. But, it was definitely important to the military personal that infiltrated the island. This flashback in particular showed how Oliver got that huge scar across his stomach. However, I am extremely nervous that the solider caught Oliver and there will be consequences after this incident.
Remember when I said everything has a happy ending…I hate it when I’m wrong. Minutes after proposing to the love of his life, Oliver and Felicity were ambushed by Dhark’s men. While in the car, Oliver was able to drive away but Felicity didn’t make it out and Oliver was holding her in his arms thinking that this is not real. Not cool, DC. Not cool.
At the beginning of the season, there was a scene that was shown 6 months into the future. It showed Oliver at grave but could not see a name on the stone. Fans of the show predicted that this would be Felicity at the grave. Turns out, this is correct. I just never expected to happen this soon. I thought this would happen at the season finale, but this just means that the 2nd half of the season will be very emotional and hard for Oliver to go through. After season 1 when Oliver made the commitment that he wasn’t going to kill….I don’t see that happening. We’ve seen Oliver try to find happiness, and to have that happiness taken away by Dhark (who happens to have a family of his own)…he won’t hold his anger back. These are all predictions from my view but anything can happen. Maybe Felicity does make it out and its someone else at the grave…but who knows. This show definitely keeps you guessing. Now, we all have to wait 6 weeks until the return of Arrow and to be honest, I’m growing impatient
